THE PRINCIPAL’S ROLE IN PERSONNEL MATTERS. The principal plays a critical role in personnel matters. This session will focus on the process for deciding about renewal or nonrenewal of teacher contracts, as well as the principal’s role with non-contractual staff. We will outline the nonrenewal process and the steps that should precede a decision to seek nonrenewal of a teacher’s contract, including the type of documentation that is necessary. The emphasis will be on the practical, with plenty of time for Q and A.
